Women usually have numerous excuses for not practicing physical activities. Some say that they do not have time for it because they work too much, at home or away, or that they have no money to pay the gym, or they even blame their children.
However, the Blog Sport & Health will prove to you that none of that is an excuse for those who have determination and willpower.
You will get to know the story of Micheline Masioli, 36, a native of the city of Cachoeiro de Itapemirim, in the State of Espírito Santo. A journalist and mother of three, she has found the strength, and overcame the difficulties of the everyday life, in order to take care of her body, and has become an example for thousands of people.
Blog Sport & Health: When did you realize you had to change habits and lose weight?
Micheline Masioli / Mom Fitness: I had three children: Cid, 10, Teo, 7, and Edi, 3, and I was sedentary. But I changed my routine because it did not accept my weight during the pregnancy period (95kg). The idea came about because I was overweight and could not even look at myself in the mirror. A desperate situation, mainly because I have had this fight with the scale since I was a teenager. I was already traumatized with such struggle, and I knew that every time I lost 1kg, soon after I gained twice that much. "Today, I weigh 54 kg (9% fat), but I have seen the scale showing my weight getting near 100 kg when I was pregnant. I was very depressed, and didn’t want to leave home."
Blog Sport & Health: What were the first things you did in order to start losing weight and getting back your self-esteem?
Micheline Masioli / Mom Fitness: Since I was very overweight when I was pregnant, I started to practice physical exercises to motivate me, and to get out of depression.
Blog Sport & Health: What tips do you have for moms who are using maternity as an excuse to justify being a little heavy?
Micheline Masioli / Mom Fitness: It is never too late to go after your objectives. I started to perform physical exercise after I was 30. I wish to prove that the “sacrifice” might be a good habit, and that age is not a barrier in the way to achieve results.
Blog Sport & Health: What were your biggest challenges and difficulties?
Micheline Masioli / Mom Fitness: Some people do not believe that after three pregnancies I keep a body good shape without having gone through any kind of plastic surgery. But it was not always like that. I gained 30 kg during my first pregnancy, 32 kg in the second and 25kg in my third. A total of more than 85 kg, if we add the three. I kept my training, tried to eat well, and 40 days after Edi was born I returned to my training routine. After two months, I got the body I had always dreamed of, and I felt accomplished and cured of my depression. I became pregnant without being with the appearance of an overweight person. I could have given up, as I had always done before. I had the excuse of having hypothyroidism (low production of hormones that stimulate metabolism and interfere with the performance of organs such as the heart and the kidneys, and even altering the menstrual cycle), and could gain more than 30 kg again. But I fought not to give up on training legs; they did not obey me, they failed, but I used the power of my mind to go ahead.
Blog Sport & Health: What are the secrets of your diet?
Mom Fitness: I work to have my body in shape throughout the year. Nothing in excess brings satisfactory results: fashion diets and diets just for the summer will only frustrate you, and most of the time you gain weight even more.
Blog Sport & Health: What characterize your training?
Mom Fitness: It is, initially aerobic. Aerobox and running intercalated with weight training. I train from Monday through Friday. Muscle training for an hour (Leg 90, leg 45, free passes, free squats, deadlifts, failure and total failure (i.e. to seek training to muscular failure) short and intense training, and 160kg in the leg), and more races in asphalt surface. I dribble the lack of time by waking up early (5 A.M.) and starting the day in the gym. The sacrifice became a pleasure. Food also received a makeover, and I also follow a healthy eating routine.
Blog Sport & Health: And to keep the diet and workouts, what motivates you? The children? A new life?
Mom Fitness: The circumstances that I have experienced, my tears, and not accepting the situation. I used all the stones of the road, and there were plenty, to go up. I used everything to my advantage. It could have made me a victim, but even in contrary currents I paddled and continue to do that to this day! In addition, of course, to the support of my husband and my children who are always by my side.
Blog Sport & Health: Any tips for those who want to start changing their lives in 2016?
Mom Fitness: It takes dedication. My husband had a serious bike accident, and I became father and mother to my children. I worked all day long. And it was during this financial change that I decided to take care of me and to accept me. I woke up at five o’clock, and was on the asphalt to run half an hour later. With dedication, before long, I was already running 16 km.
Blog Sport & Health: Would you imagine yourself becoming a reference, an example for a lot of people?
Mom Fitness: I started posting my activities on social media with the intention of motivating me, and with those posts I started noticing that people felt motivated and benefited from that too. Then I created the site (www.mamaefitness.com.br). And today I do a motivational fitness work over the internet, and I have already more than 400,000 followers on Instagram.
Blog Sport & Health: Do you believe that everything is possible?
Mom Fitness: I strongly believe that. You must want to do it. My story tells everything.
So, that's it folks. No more excuses or laziness. As Mom Fitness says, everything is possible. Losing weight; maintaining a healthy and beautiful body, even with three children at home. A super example!
And big kiss to all moms too!!!
